Performs responsible programmatic, supervisory, and administrative work directing and leading the activities of the Senior Center. Work in this class requires extensive contact with the public through program offerings and coordination and oversight of public use of Town facilities. Vision and independence are required in the work as is strong supervisory skill and the ability to oversee a facility. Work includes identifying programs needed by the community and the subsequent planning, organizing, promoting, and implementing of those activities and programs. While not exclusive, programs are highly focused around seniors and requires specific experience and knowledge of that population. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Director. Supervision is exercised over facility, full-time and part-time staff and volunteers. 

• Provides general supervision of the facility, programs, and personnel at the Senior Center. 
• Supervises all full-time, part-time, and temporary staff, including interns and volunteers. 
• Works with other PRCR staff to coordinate programming opportunities. 
• Provides general direction to the senior program specialist on program development and provides direct assistance as needed. 
• Manages the financial aspects of programs, the Senior Center, and personnel. 
• Serves as staff liaison for the Senior Advisory Committee. 
• Conducts on-boarding and other trainings for new staff. Providing positive external and internal customer service experiences to participants, public and staff. 
• Performs on-site monitoring or site visits for facility use for larger events and activities, as needed. 
• Works with Public Works staff to coordinate event/program schedules and facility needs. 
• Collects data and prepares reports. 
• Plans and oversees special events that may be held at the facility. 
• Performs related work as required. 

Thorough knowledge of the operation of a major recreation facility; thorough knowledge of senior programs and related rules and regulations; thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of recreation planning, programming and operations; ability to work collaboratively with other public entities; ability to deal effectively with citizens; ability to manage the physical aspects of a facility; ability to operate and maintain order in a public facility; knowledge of event planning and operations; knowledge of outdoor facility management; ability to communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing; ability to plan and supervise the work of others; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, participants, community organizations and the general public. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in parks and recreation management, education, or related field, with considerable experience in recreation and senior services. Possession of (or ability to obtain) Certified Parks and Recreation Professional credential, CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
