The Town of Snowmass Village is looking to hire a Trails Supervisor to join Parks, Recreation & Trails department! Hiring range: $27.90/h - $32.08/h Position range: $27.90/h - $36.27/h $1,000 sign-on bonus available! We are looking for an experienced Trails Supervisor that will performs as crew lead and project coordinator to assist the POST (Parks, Open Space, and Trails) Manager in overseeing the day- to-day operations and maintenance of the Town’s Park system. Some of other duties are performed are: Assess trail conditions, prioritize, plan and carry out trail maintenance and repairs of soft-surface trails and paved trails. Lead the maintenance and repairs of trails including an annual cycle of tread work, brushing, raking; new trail construction; rock retaining wall, crib wall, turnpike, drainage, bridge, and split rail fence construction; and trail decommissioning. Oversee inventory of tools and supplies. Operate and maintain tools and equipment, including hand tools, small power tools, crosscut and chainsaws, and power wheelbarrows. Assist with natural area restoration work as needed, including invasive species removal and native plantings. Operates and assists in the maintenance and care of assigned light and heavy duty vehicles, mowers, edger, blowers, tractors, loaders, hand and power tools, radios, and any other equipment and materials associated with trail maintenance. Supervise and coordinates the activities of all assigned trails staff. Plan and assist POST Manager to lead volunteer trail efforts. Work closely with the Parks Supervisor, Program Coordinator and other Town departments to schedule maintenance activities and coordinate successful activities and Town events. Ability to use a personal computer and various software to develop reports, spreadsheets, etc. Effective verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences. A combination of three to five years of supervisory experience and safe and skillful operating practices and mechanical characteristics of a full range of trail maintenance/repair equipment to skillfully operate and perform routine trail and landscape maintenance. A high school diploma or equivalent with a combination of two years’ experience working in trails maintenance, parks, landscape architecture, recreation, natural resources, environmental science or similar field. Possession of a valid driver’s license.
