This position supports the Planning Director by managing and executing complex planning projects from inception to completion. The Associate Planner's responsibilities encompass interpreting and applying various state, county, and local codes, ordinances, and regulations, along with writing and presenting formal technical reports, working papers, and correspondence. The role demands a high degree of interaction with elected and appointed boards and committees, often serving as a key presenter and advisor. Key duties include leading site-plan and subdivision reviews, providing technical assistance to a diverse array of stakeholders including property owners, developers, and public officials, and ensuring that all planning proposals align with the comprehensive plan and town goals. The position also involves serving as a staff liaison to various boards and commissions, maintaining and updating town ordinances and maps, and managing social media accounts related to town planning and zoning.
