Hiring Range: $22.76-$24.76 hourlyWork Schedule: Generally, works up to 40 hours per weekNATURE OF WORKAs a member of the Parks, Recreation & Culture, individuals in this position perform routine installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing, mechanical, electrical, painting, carpet and flooring, construction, and exterior maintenance. Assists with general custodial duties, and special requests for set-up and tear-down as assigned. This position operates various types of building systems, machinery, and tools in a safe, efficient manner to maintain, analyze, repair, and perform semi-skilled and skilled improvement to Town facilities and equipment; and maintains and repairs mechanical and electrical operational systems including, but not limited to heating, air conditioning, ventilation, plumbing, electrical lighting, and distribution.Individuals in the position are required to perform work in a manner consistent with and exemplary of the Town’s PRIDE philosophies and the Town’s Equal Opportunity Employment policy.SUPERVISION RECEIVEDIndividuals work under the direct supervision of the Facilities Supervisor to carry out assigned duties, functions, roles, and projects in both routine and complex circumstances.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSThe individual in the Facilities Maintenance Technician I role is assigned specific assignments, job duties, scope, authority, responsibility, roles, and requirements as determined by the town, department, and division, and according to laws, regulations, and practices. Individuals in this position must be able to successfully perform, be responsible for, and/or assist in the fulfillment of many job functions and duties with or without reasonable accommodations.The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all-inclusive: Performs a wide variety of general construction, maintenance, and repairs on buildings and facilities, for upkeep, and preservationAssists in inspections of all town facilities to insure a safe environment for users and compliance with insurance standards and Fire Safety CodesMaintains and repairs small equipment as neededAppropriately assesses and reports maintenance issues and prioritizes projects. Detects and reports defective or destroyed materials, items that need maintenance or fixing, or questionable conditions to the division/department supervisor. Completes start-up and shutdown of systems operations at municipal pool and park restrooms each season.Assesses and assures refuse areas are clean and organized.Maintains and performs safety inspection of assigned vehicleResearches tools and equipment needs and gathers price quotes for parts and equipment Escorts contractors as requested by the managerMaintains personal work space and equipment in a clean and orderly conditionPerforms related duties as established by law/ordinance or reasonably directed by the townCompletes work orders and performs routine construction, maintenance, repairs, remodeling, and preventative maintenance to all town buildings and equipmentPerforms basic maintenance such as changing filters, replacing light bulbs, unclogging toilets, replacing switches and electrical outlets, repairing floors and walls, painting, and exterior maintenanceCompletes and submits reports, work orders, and supply requests accurately and timelyUses discretion with sensitive informationWorks independently without supervision in the normal course of dutiesPerforms all work duties and activities per town policies and proceduresAssists outside vendors and contractorsEnsures that town facilities are safe and free from hazards for staff, citizens, and visitorsResponds to staff, customers, citizens, and contractors in a positive and respectful mannerAssists in completing unexpected and/or urgent projects requested by department/division staff or managementAssists building maintenance staff with custodial duties and special set-up and tear-down as assignedEstablishes and monitors priorities and meets deadlinesOTHER DUTIESDepending on organizational need, additional duties may include the following: The Facilities Maintenance Technician I position is part of the snow removal program which includes scheduled on-call responsibilities typically during the months of October to April. Facilities Maintenance Technician I are required to review and acknowledge the Snow Guidelines annually. The Facilities Maintenance Technician I position participates in the Shared Fleet Vehicle Program, which requires an annual motor vehicle record check.May be involved in special projects that are directly or indirectly related to essential job functions.Continues educational and certification requirements to remain abreast of current methods and procedures.Assisting other departments as necessary.
