Town Of Zebulon is Hiring a PT - Recreation Aide II Near Zebulon, NC

The Town of Zebulon is seeking an energetic and creative person that wants to serve this community in an administrative role. The part-time Recreation Aide is the first point of contact at the Community Center, and therefore would need to possess amazing customer service skills. This position is an important part of the team that keeps things moving forward within the Parks Department. They will work on various projects, do research, participate in programs and have fun. The Parks & Recreation Department values the input and ideas from their employees and wants to help them grow in their careers. Recreation Aides assist Parks and Recreation staff with daily operations of the Zebulon Community Center, community outreach programs, athletic programs, special events and overseeing facility rentals. Recreation Aides are responsible for providing outstanding customer service when assisting the public using various communication methods. Staff will need to be familiar with the facility, various sports and standard operating procedures.Essential Functions
Duties and Tasks
  1. Assists with the implementation of various programs including educational/art classes, community outreach programs, special events and sports competitions. 
  2. Performs administrative duties including responding to patrons, taking program/athletic registrations, setting up and breaking down necessary equipment, design and distribution of marketing materials, etc.
  3. Maintains and oversees day-to-day facility operations and cleanliness.
  4. Maintains a professional demeanor and appearance.
  5. Position is responsible for ensuring safety and satisfaction of visitors and participants. 
  6. Ability to work varying hours contingent upon program, activity, event and facility demands; including weekdays, night and weekends.
  7. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  1. Experience in customer services 
  2. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  3. Well organized, detail oriented, creative and self-motivated
  4. Knowledge of recreation programs and sports
  5. Ability to multitask and manage time
  6. Skill in operating computers and other standard office equipment
  7. Skill in establishing cooperative and productive working relationships

Physical Requirements
  1. Must be able to perform the basic life operational skills of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
  2. Must be able to perform medium work, exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift objects.
  3. Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and analyze written or computer data, depth and color perception, use of measuring devices, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, observing general surroundings and activities.
  4. Must possess the auditory ability to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
  5. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by the means of the spoken word.
  6. Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, hazards, and atmospheric conditions.
 
Desirable Education and Experience:
  1. Must be at least 16 years of age
  2. CPR/First Aid Certified preferred
  3. Valid NC Driver’s License
