Ewing Township is now accepting applications for a full-time Health Officer in the Department of Health. Successful applicants must be able to perform highly responsible administrative and complex professional work, recommending and directing public health policies, and enforcing public health statutes, regulations, and ordinances within the service area.

Duties Include:

Providing leadership for the management and enforcement of all public health activities to ensure compliance with federal, state and local health laws and ordinances.

Evaluating public health needs and services; collaborating with agencies concerned with public health; meets and confers with citizens, groups and members of the local medical community on public health matters.

Recommending to administration the establishment of local health policies and programs.

Planning and directing the measures required to control and prevent communicable diseases.

Directing and coordinating the inspection, investigation, legal and other measures required to carry out the provisions of local and state health laws.

Supervising sanitation measures and inspections throughout the municipality.

Planning and directing the measures required to abate nuisances which may affect health and sanitation

Overseeing the child health clinics

Maintaining a current, accurate record of all diseases reported within the municipality.

Directing the investigation of contacts and contagious diseases

Issuing certain licenses and permits

Supervising the inspection of food and drug establishments to assure compliance with the law.

Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in Public Health or related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience in Public Health including supervisory experience.

Licensing/Certifications:

Possession of a valid Health Officer License issued by the New Jersey Department of Health.
