Role Description

The TCI Purchasing Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all purchasing activities for the company in accordance with industry standards and company policy. This includes identifying and vetting suppliers, developing and implementing contracts, processing and managing orders, and administering online purchasing systems. Importantly, the Purchasing Manager will negotiate favorable pricing with suppliers without compromising quality and service.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of the TCI team engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, services, and supplies.
• Ensure the production schedule is supported with materials needed to meet customer requirements.
• Negotiate favorable pricing with suppliers without compromising quality and service.
• Oversee preparation and processing of requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment and keep records of goods ordered and received.
• Locate suppliers of materials, equipment, and supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales.
• Maintain current price and lead time files for all major suppliers. 
• Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
• Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
• Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
• Participate in development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials.
• Help to negotiate contracts and formulate policies with suppliers.
• Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
• Administer online purchasing systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with major in supply chain management, logistics, or business administration preferred.
• Minimum 2 years purchasing experience.
• Epicor knowledge a plus.

• Strong capability to work in an ERP environment.
