Job Summary:This Building Performance & Systems Engineer II promotes HVAC solutions through the development, application, testing, support and commercialization of cutting-edge commercial building HVAC design & simulation software. Job Summary:This Building Performance & Systems Engineer promotes HVAC solutions through the development, application, testing, support and commercialization of cutting-edge commercial building HVAC design & simulation software. This position is eligible for a Hybrid work schedule (3 days/week on-site; 2 days/week remote).
Core Job Responsibilities (others May Be Added):
  • Support the product development of new or enhanced building design or simulation programs that properly position Trane products, systems, solutions and services.
  • Participate on a team of developers and engineers to enhance the user experience and quality perception of CDS tools.
  • Translate customer feedback into prioritized development requirements.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert for assigned systems and special assignments.
  • Train internal and external customers.
  • Support commercialization activities.
  • Executing regression tests, functional tests and data tests.
  • Interfacing with external vendor support service groups.
  • Providing technical support to customers as well as escalated 2nd level support on complex tickets.
  • Limited overnight travel is required.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or related technical degree) and at least 3 years work experience in product development, contract engineering or building simulation development is required.
  • Master’s Degree is preferred but not required.
Key Competencies:
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office Suite and other Windows programs required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are required.
  • Detailed knowledge of HVAC products and systems.
  • Knowledge of commercial building construction industry is a plus.
  • Understanding of applied mathematics and numerical modeling techniques.
  • Ability to profile memory use and performance of executable software.
  • Knowledge of software limitations and capabilities related to technologies and design approaches used in real buildings.
  • Understanding of the software development process.
  • Experience with Agile practices is desired.
  • Knowledge of writing Excel Macros and Shell Scripts is desired.
Annual Compensation Range is $75,000 to $123,000 annually. Disclaimer: This salary range is based on US national averages. Actual pay could be a result of seniority/experience level, merit and geographic location where the actual work is performed.
