Transdev is seeking a Dispatcher (position hours 4 : 00 . - 12 : 30 ., subject to change) for its Boston Public Schools transportation contract.

The Dispatcher is required to provide impeccable customer service to our clients and passengers. The individual schedules and dispatches drivers in order to service vehicles that carry passengers.

The Dispatcher keeps records, logs, and schedules of the calls they receive; monitors and controls the actions taken; and maintains information on each call.

The Dispatcher also prepares a detailed report on all activities occurring during their shifts.

Responsibilities :

• Assigns transportation services and maintains check out logs.
• Assigns stand-by or extra-board operators in the event of operator absences, increased service volumes or to minimize service disruptions as a result of traffic, vehicle malfunctions, operator problems and / or emergency situations.
• Maintains attendance log for operators and other appropriate staff.
• Maintains two-way communication with operators, providing information on customers, cancellations, and directional assistance when necessary.
• Monitors operators and trip status, making adjustments and reassignments as necessary to ensure on time performance.
• Maintains scheduling and performance data in the event of real-time operations.
• Documents accurately and appropriately daily events related to service.
• Communicates effectively with operations staff regarding scheduling or passenger issues.
• Maintains professional demeanor and appearance.
• Handle multiple tasks accurately and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Effectively direct employees in the performance of their duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the department.

Education, Licensing and Certifications Required :

A high school diploma or equivalent (.

Experience Required :

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Two (2) years of passenger transportation related experience.

Experience Preferred :

Dispatching or supervisory experience is preferred.

• Must be able to demonstrate poise, tact, diplomacy and possess good judgement and discretion.

• General knowledge of Windows-based computer operating system and Microsoft Office.
• Must be able to work as a member of the team.
• Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customer on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groups.
• Ability to adapt and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to use multi-line phone system and handle multiple tasks concurrently.
