What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Transit Supervisor position at Transit?
Position Summary
Assist in the planning and coordinating of Motorcoach and Paratransit activities and operations within the Operations Division of the Transit Department; assist in the coordination of assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies and the general public; provide assistance to Transit Supervisors; assist in monitoring compliance of drivers' duties and documentations.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in business; and
Three (3) years of transit operator experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with a Passenger (P) endorsement within a three (3) week period from completion of City CDL training.
Must be able to maintain CDL once obtained.
Must pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam and required drug testing.
Preferred Knowledge
- Fixed route bus/paratransit operations, services and activities
- Motorcoach/paratransit principles and practices of operating bus equipment
- Principles and procedures of record keeping
- Principles of basic report preparation
- Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations
- Work in, maintain, and contribute effectively to team activities and duties

- Supervise, organize and review the work of lower level staff
- Assist in the selection, supervision, training and evaluation of staff
- Explain City policies and procedures
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Communicate clearly and concisely
