Position Summary
Reporting to the Safety Director, the Safety Coordinator is responsible for monitoring and coordinating company safety, environmental health programs and resources in the assigned area.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
* Develop and implement health and safety policies; ensure policies and procedures are in place and enforced.
* Conduct audits of facilities and operations to identify existing/potential hazardous conditions and security concerns.
* Ensure the organization is compliant with legislative and regulatory safety requirements, conduct courses with staff to make sure they are aware of regulations and procedures and provide guidance as necessary.
* Provides technical safety information and compliance requirements to managers, employees and contractors.
* Participate in the development of health and safety education training programs; evaluate training needs, develop materials and conduct training sessions to meet objectives.
* Provide training and guidance for all personnel regarding personal protective equipment, emergency equipment, and emergency protocols.
* Investigate and submit written reports and recommendations on incidents involving health and safety matters.
* Serve as the main point of contact for all Department of Environmental Protection activities regarding facility storage tanks.
* Assist in the coordination and completion of abatement action programs.
* Monitor individual facility health and safety records, manuals and employee awareness.
* Respond to emergency situations.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
