About The Position
  • Job Title:** Registered Nurse - Dialysis **Job Specialty:** Outpatient Dialysis **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 12-Hour Days **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 **Experience:** - At least two years of dialysis experience - Hemodialysis experience required - Travel experience required: Minimum one prior 13-week assignment **License:** Registered Nurse (RN) License in South Dakota or compact state **Certifications:** Basic Life Support (BLS) Required **Must-Have:** - Hemodialysis experience - Competency in accessing and troubleshooting fistulas/grafts **Job Description:** - RNs will be expected to float between inpatient and outpatient areas. - Inpatient unit features 7 chairs and portable, bedside dialysis machines. - Outpatient unit consists of 36 chairs, including 4 isolation rooms. - Patient types include acute and chronic dialysis patients for inpatient services; chronic dialysis patients for outpatient. - Required to utilize patient scheduling software: ScheduleWise. - Inpatient services operate Monday through Saturday; on-call night coverage and Sunday. - Outpatient services operate Monday through Saturday with 2.5 patient shifts a day. - Patient ratios are 1:2 to 3 for inpatient depending on staffing and acuity, bedside is 1:1, and 1:8 for outpatient. - Partnered with either two dialysis technicians or one dialysis technician and one licensed practical nurse (LPN) for outpatient. - Daily staffing includes charge and staff nurses, and an isolation/float nurse based on availability. - Floating required between inpatient and outpatient facilities. - One week of orientation is provided/training over 36 hours during the first week. - Call requirements include one on-call shift per week and weekend rotation. - Holidays require work if they fall within the week, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas with make-up shifts required. - Required to use EPIC charting system and familiarity with Fresenius 2008T BlueStar Hemodialysis Machine and WRO 300/300H Portable Reverse Osmosis System preferred. - Scrub color: Navy blue.
