Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Rapid Decision Unit - Medical Surgical **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 12H Nights (7 PM - 7 AM) **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum of 2 years **License:** Active AZ or Compact License required **Certifications:** - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred **Must-Have:** EPIC experience required **Job Description:** - Provide nursing care in the Rapid Decision Unit, specializing in medical-surgical patients. - Common diagnoses include cardiac rule outs, low heart scores, low-level surgical cases, abdominal pain, pneumonia, COPD, radiation treatments, acute kidney injury, occasional laparoscopic procedures (cholecystectomy, appendectomy). - Nurse-to-patient ratios: Nights 1:6-7. - Work collaboratively with a shared charge nurse and a midlevel provider assigned to the unit. - Assist with patient care alongside 2 Patient Care Assistants (PCAs) per shift. - Utilize telemetry on the unit; RNs are required to read central monitoring. - Shifts are from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. - Weekend requirement includes 4 shifts in a 4-week period. - Required to work 2 of the 5 major holidays (this includes holiday eves). - May float to Medical-Surgical towers as needed. - Follow the dress code of navy blue scrubs. - Participate in an orientation program including one New Employee Orientation (NEO), one day of clinical/EPIC training, and one day on the floor. - The job is based in an acute care setting with Trauma Level 2 classification. - The EPIC system is used for charting. The role ensures comprehensive care for patients with a variety of medical conditions, requiring critical decision-making and timely actions.
