TravelNurseSource is working with ICONMA, L.L.C. to find a qualified PCU RN in Rapid City, South Dakota, 57701!
About The Position
  • Mixed unit with Med/Surg & IMC patients.
  • Pre/post-surgical patients, CVA, seizures, cellulitis, influenza, UTIs, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, renal failure with or without the need for hemodialysis, hepatic failure, gastrointestinal disorders and infections, soft tissue injury and minor fractures, and DVTs. Medication administration, titratable vasoactive drips, TPN/tube feeding, and blood product transfusions.
  • Peripheral IV, Midline, PICC and central line access, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, drains, and urinary and fecal collection devices.
  • Wound care, telemetry monitored patients.
  • Post neuro-intervention (preferred experience but education and resources are provided per unit if they have not had this patient type).
  • Drip Titration: Most commonly Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Levophed (up to 5 mcg), occasionally esmolol drips (will train if traveler has not done these) or other Betablockers or other antihypertensives.
Floating:
  • Will float where needed within (or below) their scope of practice.
  • Most commonly to Medical (sister unit).
Orientation: (facility and unit)
  • 2 days of unit/department orientation including policies, protocols, department information, online learnings. Also, classroom time with our Nursing Professional Development Team.
  • 2 orientation shifts on the unit working with a pr.
Requirements
  • Previous experience with our types of patients above, including IMC/stepdown and neuro; ability to read/interpret cardiac strips, wound care, line management, drain/tube management, drip titration of below medications.
  • PCU Level RN: 1.5 years of nursing experience required (system requirement).
  • Required Certifications: RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
  • RN: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing.
