TRB + Associates Inc. is Hiring a Plan Review Engineer [Electrical] Near San Ramon, CA

TRB and Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated plan review engineer specializing in electrical with a minimum of two years of experience in electrical plan review and/or design on commercial, industrial, and residential projects. Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract, Temporary

Pay: $113,000.00 - $144,000.00 per year

Essential job duties and responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Review complex building plans and specifications for compliance with electrical codes, and prepare written comment letters on building design submittals
  • Perform engineering computations to analyze electrical systems
  • Identify inadequacies found in electrical construction documents and specifications and require that corrections be made to meet the requirements of codes and engineering standards
  • Perform investigations and evaluate tests and other data to determine the suitability of electrical materials and methods of construction or installation
  • Respond to inquiries from plan reviewers, inspectors, architects, engineers, and others regarding electrical code questions
  • Hold meetings with architects, engineers, and electrical inspectors relating to code interpretation and electrical design problems
  • Recommend changes in codes to resolve design and interpretation problems and accommodate and control new materials and new design concepts
  • Make field inspections at construction sites of large projects at the request of electrical inspectors
  • Produce written letters, memos, and code compliance reports
  • Enters technical data as required for permits or plans information into the computer
  • Assist the quality control team with plan review issues.
  • Assist the document control team with project information, status, and schedule.

Job Requirements:

  • Current registration as a Registered Professional Electrical Engineer (PE) in the State of California.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in electrical, civil, structural, mechanical, or architectural engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • At least two (2) years of experience working as a Plan Check Engineer or Plans Examiner on building structures.
  • Certification as an ICC Electrical Plans Examiner and/or Commercial Electrical Building Inspector is preferred.
  • An in-depth understanding of the California Building Standards Codes and related standards is essential.
  • Working knowledge of office computer software (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and a problem solver.
  • Valid California driver’s license
