Due to continued growth, TRC Field Services (FSV) is seeking more Field Service Test Technicians to support our Client Teams across the United States and includes the regions : Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, Southeast and Midwest.

Field Service Test Technicians report to the Regional Manager, Testing and Commissioning Services and are responsible for conducting tests on complex electrical, electronic and mechanical equipment.
Test Technicians test electrical equipment including but not limited to : power transformers, protective relays, circuit breakers, control and supervisory equipment, voltage regulators and other equipment within an electric utility substations, generating stations, or industrial plants.

Shall serve as technical reviewer on assigned projects.
Make certain all test results are acceptable and permanently recorded, filed and distributed properly. Execute tests and develop detailed test reports of various types of electrical equipment.

Perform isolation, setpoint testing, advanced logic testing, scheme testing (reclosing, breaker failure, pilot scheme, end-to-end satellite)
Electromechanical and Solid State Relays - Familiarity with Application and Testing Techniques, Literature (GE, ABB, Westinghouse, Basler).

Education and / or Experience Associate Degree in a technical field with a minimum of 3 years of testing & commissioning experience within electric utilities or complex commercial & industrial power plants performing the specific activities listed above (or an equivalent amount of combined education, training and experience which may include Journeyman Apprentice Electrician Training, US Army Prime Power School, US Navy Nuclear Electrician Program and results service experience)Abilities to work cooperatively with others in a team environment as well as to work independently while maintaining a high level of initiative and self-motivationIntermediate knowledge of electrical protection systems, including relay communication;
solid understanding of AC and DC schematics, wiring and interconnect drawings, one line and three line diagrams; Understanding design intent of all protection and control (P&C) circuitsAnalyze and effectively utilize drawings in the commissioning and / or testing processAdvanced testing of medium and high voltage substation and power plant equipment.
Perform apparatus and protective relay testing and interpret test results with minimal supervision. Advanced knowledge of and ability to learn test equipment specific software to accurately conduct and document test activitiesTesting and commissioning knowledge of substation utility protection and control circuits.

Intermediate knowledge of and ability to learn commissioning methods to accurately conduct and document commissioning activitiesUtilize TRC’s Testing and Commissioning standard documentation policies including but not limited to : Testing and Commissioning Services home folder, project specific ProjectWise filing procedures, onsite documentation record keeping and procedures, TRC’s documentation management system (ProjectWise), standard documentation (templates, planning, reporting, data sheets, test certification sheets, isolation plans, QA / QC forms, project closeout)Understand project requirements including scopes of work, budgets, schedules, specific client requirements, project deliverables, and project closeoutFamiliarity with Company’s drawing system, ANSI Standards, National Electric Safety Code, and the Company’s design and construction standardsAvailability : Must be available for out-of-town travel of up to several weeks at a time and be available to work flexible hours, including weekends, overtime holidays and night workMust have excellent verbal and written skills and be able to communicate and negotiate effectivelyMust have good PC skills and experience with Adobe and Microsoft programs.

TRC offers jurisdiction specific benefit packages for International and Puerto Rico employees.
Compensation : In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition.
Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation : Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
