Job Description
The VP Medical Education's primary responsibility is to provide strategic leadership for the Company's Medical Education programs. In this collaborative role, you will work with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop overall Medical Education strategies including the conception, planning, organization, and execution of the cadaveric workshops and other Medical Education programs aligned with company objectives. This position will also provide leadership in the development and execution of a faculty engagement strategy designed to enhance surgeon education effectiveness.
This position will bring deep subject matter expertise, industry insights, and a willingness to innovate, advancing TMC as an industry leader in Medical Education and maintaining the highest ethical standards. Will establish and maintain strong relationships with internal colleagues to identify and leverage expertise and medical education activities to deliver an exceptional customer experience and advance patient care.
What you will be responsible for:
Medical Education Strategy
  • Leads and drives Medical Educational strategy for TMC products to define and ensure identified educational needs are met, including ensuring that all educational activities are strategically aligned and prioritized accordingly, in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Partners with Product Marketing and supports the development of marketing strategies and programs designed to enhance product commercialization through educational efforts.
  • Develops and delivers the Medical Education strategy and all aspects of a comprehensive schedule of Medical Education events according to the annual plan, including cadaveric labs, webinars, didactic presentations, trade shows, and other events
  • Drives integrated medical education planning across the organization and ensures effective communication with cross-functional teams.
  • Engages with surgeons and faculty to capture voice of customer insights that support the development of needs-based educational programs
  • Oversees development and execution of faculty engagement strategies.
Content Development and Program Execution
  • Collaborates and establishes key relationships with Healthcare Professionals to develop goals, agendas, and strategies for medical education and training programs.
  • Oversees the site selection, HCP faculty selection/engagement process, and planning for Medical Education events.
  • Strategically evaluates the Medical Education program, content, tools, and processes, making recommendations and changes for continuous optimization and improvement.
  • Defines surgeon education effectiveness parameters and develops a reporting mechanism to keep executive leaders informed of overall effectiveness and enhancements
  • Ensure the evaluation, selection, and onboarding of faculty surgeons is in line with the
  • company's compliance program
  • Responsible for HCP engagement documentation and maintenance of compliant Medical Education programs/processes per the Company's compliance policies
  • Supports annual completion of Medical Education needs assessments and builds annual Medical Education budget and resources needs.
  • Identifies, develops and maintains Medical Education vendor relations (specimen supply, equipment, lab facilities, etc)
  • Maintains current knowledge of products, relevant clinical literature, and surgical techniques.
  • Supports the sales training program directed at new sales team members.
  • Evaluates new modalities for continuing medical education, staying at the forefront of technology and experiences to optimize effectiveness and engagement
Leadership
  • Provides leadership, mentorship and guidance to a team of Medical Education professionals including the Bioskills Lab, Faculty Engagement, and Event teams, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • May lead regional clinical education team in providing clinical expertise, training, and support to customers.
  • Keeps abreast and proactively responds to trends and/or shifts in the external environment to maximize the positive impact of Medical Education activities on HCPs, ultimately improving patient care and outcomes.
  • Builds and maintains effective strategic relationships and influence across the Executive Team and other relevant corporate and field-based stakeholders.
  • Maintains high-quality standards for Medical Education that ensure consistent and compliant behavior and drives excellence in Medical Education activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences or related field required. Master's degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years' of successful medical education, medical affairs and/or marketing experience (7 years' Medical Education experience in the medical device or related industry is required)
  • Moderate travel required: 20-35%
  • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience at a director or higher level, leading a medical education function
  • Experience in the medical device industry strongly preferred, with knowledge of relevant compliance and regulatory environment.
  • Candidate must be willing to relocate to Jacksonville, FL area and work from the Ponte Vedra corporate office
