RESPONSIBILITIES
Development of Structural Elements including Frame Structures for Compressed Gas Storage solutions - Hydrogen and CNG
The definition of the requirements â to be developed utilizing industry trend data, governmental regulations, OEM customer requirements etc.
Establishment of project charters timelines and action plans
Development of the product considering performance and specifications
Ensure the product meets the requirements set out in #1 by testing and validating the product.
Assist in defining Global Design Standards for the organization.
Design structure that will support the High-Pressure Tanks and other components (valves, piping, wires, etc.) using different materials (steel, aluminum, etc.) and different joining technologies (welding, bolting, bonding, etc.)
Investigate and analyze applicability of new design methods, technologies, standards, etc. to ensure company designs remain current and competitive.
Provide inputs and load cases to simulation team for CAE analysis.
Review and validate calculations / simulations results.
Review and validate that 3D and 2D drawings are complying with specifications.
Support the DRE Systems with technical inputs for customer meetings regarding Structure. Support key customer program meetings as requested.
Ensures product design meets SOW requirements.
Support preparing the Technical Offer for Request for Quotations. Assist in leading the preparation and presentation of customer technical reviews and future business opportunities business awards.
Drive idea generation workshops to fuel innovation and new concepts and identify possible patent generation.
Ensure Benchmarking of Structure solutions and be aware of State of the Art
Supports the assessment cost/benefit trade-off of technical solutions.
Supports the definition of Global Design Standards.
Work closely with tight deadlines to ensure that engineering standards are maintained.
Support the generation of technical papers.
Escalate and manage program risks and issues related to Structural Elements
Produce accurate written reports and prepare and present engaging presentations to diverse groups.
Prototype build support as needed on-site with customer build support or problem resolution.
Provide onsite support relating to ongoing development / production 8Ds, customer problem reports.
Assist Chief Engineer in reporting key indicators.
Work within the company APQP process and the customerâs own project development procedures.
Review customer warranty issues and ensure these are addressed in future technical solutions.
Support OEM customer releasing activity is done on-time to support program timing needs.
Establish a technical relationship with suppliers of Structural Elements.
Define and carry-out the Design Validation Plan of Structural Elements together with the DRE Systems.
Actively participate in Design FMEAs
Lead Design Reviews
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience - Masters Degree preferred
5 years experience in the vehicle transportation/automotive industry on structural components
Experience designing structural steel and or aluminum support systems.
Good knowledge of metallic material science and manufacturing processes (extrusion, casting).
Experience in CAD software (Siemens NX or equivalent) is a plus.
Leadership skills to instruct, delegate, or coordinate analysis work.
