The Rising Stars College Readiness Academy helps new high school students become college-ready through a five-week summer immersion program. The academy is designed to help students improve some essential skills and focus their career goals at an accelerated pace, so they can be fully prepared for success in the prestigious Tri-C/Warrensville Heights High School Early College program starting in the fall. The program runs every day from May 30 through June 30, from 8:30-2:00. Each day, students will be bussed to the Eastern Campus, where they will sharpen English and math skills with Tri-C faculty. They’ll also learn more about habits and practices of successful college students, such as good time management and note-taking skills. They will also engage in career exploration activities including career counseling, reflective writing and other hands-on activities.

We need someone to help us keep up with the scholars in the Rising Stars Academy, especially on days where we travel to other campuses. We expect 12-15 students this summer, which is a lot for the Program Director to manage on his own. We also need help making sure that students complete their work during the allotted time, and they will need some guidance and assistance to do so. Generally, this person will serve as a point of contact for the students and the Program Director, providing whatever support is needed in the moment.

• Time permitting, we would also welcome this person to join us at the orientation event to be held sometime the week of May 22.
• Time permitting, we would also ask this person to assist in the writing of a post-program summary, including collecting and organizing student feedback and other types of information.
