Lower Shore Workforce Alliance (LSWA), a division of the Tri-County Council for the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland, Salisbury, MD

The Lower Shore Workforce Alliance (LSWA) envisions a community where job seeks, educational and training institutions, businesses, and non-profit institutions come together to strengthen workforce readiness programs and employ residents at livable wages in Wicomico, Somerset and Worcester (which includes Ocean City, MD) Counties. LSWA-funded programs support workforce development initiatives including Workforce Innovative Opportunity Act (WIOA) programmatic funding. Residents of the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland benefit from the state and federal grant-funded investment in training and jobs for the short and long term. LSWA targets historically underserved populations and areas, communities of color, women, and other groups facing labor market barriers. As we enter the post-pandemic era, funds for training initiatives, on-the-job training, and supportive services are being made available to meet the multi-industry demand for workers in this region.

Summary of Work

The Lower Shore Workforce Alliance (LSWA) Grant Specialist will have expertise to oversee programmatic activities, budgets, and reporting for multiple federal, state, and private grants. The Grant Specialist works directly with the LSWA Director and coordinate with the Finance Department to ensure all project tasks are on schedule, balance and allocate grant budgets, and prepare quarterly, annual and final reports to be submitted to funding agencies. The Grant Specialist will also pursue new funding sources, and craft new funding proposals to grant agencies. He Grant Specialist will coordinate and manage multiple grant projects including balancing year-to-year project budgets, gathering data on outcomes from multiple sources, writing reports, and drafting contacts. This position is grant funded. The continuous of this position is based on grant renewals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with LSWA Director and Deputy Director to identify metrics and collect data for reporting and assessment
  • Lead the writing and submission of monthly, quarterly and annual performance reports as required by funding agencies
  • Maintain project budgets
  • Support and collaborate with the LSWA Director in identifying writing, and submitting new grant proposals

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities. This position reports to the LSWA Deputy Director

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field and three (3) years of administrative, progressively responsible experience, of which at least one (1) year entails working with budgeting, expenditures, and/or procurement, preferably in a non-profit organization or post-secondary institution OR a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four (4) years related progressively responsible experience, of which at least one (1) year entailed working with budgeting, expenditures, and/or procurement, preferably in a non-profit organization or post-secondary institution.

Language Skills

Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
