Position Purpose
Accurately process biweekly payroll and support payroll-related duties and requests. Provide backup support to other functions in the Accounting Department
Job Dimensions
- Internal Responsibility - Work closely with Human Resources to ensure accurate benefit deductions, including health benefits, 401(k) Plan, Pension, and record-keeping while strictly following confidentiality standards. Must be flexible and adaptable with strong adherence to deadlines.
- External Responsibility - Proper administration of tax payments and garnishments.
Principal Accountabilities
- Process special payments, new hires, and terminations, as needed.
- Enter and maintain garnishments of pay for employees.
- Prepare documentation for various annual audits.
- Assist with month-end closing procedures in the payroll module.
- Prepare and distribute various payroll reports weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually.
- Audit payroll records, research and resolve imbalances, and run adjustments as needed to process and distribute payroll biweekly.
- Assist with special projects, as needed.
Minimum Requirements
- Education - Associate Degree in Accounting
- Experience - One to two years' experience in accounting
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities -
- Knowledge of payroll, garnishments, payroll taxes, and benefits distribution
- Exemplary multitasking and organization skills
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Strong balance between efficiency and accuracy
- Strong adherence to deadlines
- Comfortable working in a team-oriented environment
- Excellent attention to detail
- Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written,
- Must maintain a continued education that supports the Cooperative's goals.
- Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to stand, and walk; frequently sit, bend, stoop, squat, lift, and carry between 10-25 pounds; push and/or pull; reach above shoulder level; and twist; to climb, balance, kneel, crouch.
