Job Location: TGO - Georgetown - Georgetown, DE
Position Type: Full Time
Salary Range: $25.00 - $35.00 Hourly

Lead Diesel Technician

SUMMARY:

Our Diesel Technicians maintain and repair medium and heavy duty vehicles. You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues and fixing them aiming to maximum reliability and functionality. The Lead Diesel Technician will be responsible for also over seeing the work performed by the team. 

DUITES & RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Perform preventative maintenance with no supervision
  • Perform routine truck repairs including: brake work, hydraulics, driveline, steering, suspension, electrical and transmission with no supervision
  • Perform advanced truck repairs including: fuel injection, electronics, emissions, meters, tank and piping work, major engine or transmission rebuilds with no supervision.
  • Ability to perform welding and cutting preferred
  • Perform annual state vehicle inspections per regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain inventory control of parts inventory and order as necessary from approved vendors.
  • Perform various odd jobs around the shop and yard
  • Possess Class C certification
  • Desire to grow and accelerate with the Company
  • Good customer relations
  • Must have a positive, upbeat attitude
  • Must be able to take direction from coworkers

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma is preferred
  • Proven experience as an experienced mechanic
    • Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles
  • Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
  • Ability to handle various tools (e.g. pliers) and heavy equipment (e.g. lift)
  • Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.
  • Service medium duty and heavy-duty truck/trailer
  • Brake work, wheel seal, and driveline repairs
  • Air Conditioning work a plus
  • Any other responsibilities that will make the department run more efficiently

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EXPECTATIONS:

The daily work takes place in an area that can be noisy. The workspace can be gritty the majority of the time. Technicians are required to wear PEE as required, such as safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, etc.

The employee is required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, pull, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to perform work in a variety of weather conditions including extreme heat & cold.
