Summary/Objective

Our company is growing rapidly and is searching for experienced candidates for the position of maintenance technician.If you do not meet all of the listed qualifications, you may still be considered depending on your level of experience.
The maintenance technician position will be responsible for, but not limited to functions pertaining to diagnosing, repairing, fixing, and restoring automotive fleet. The position will also be responsible for regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and timely repairs to help reduce downtime and replacement costs. The activities of this assignment are oriented to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform annual certifications and DOT inspections
  • Perform routine maintenance around warehouses such as fixing structural damage; examples include, but are not limited to window, door, wall repair, etc…
  • Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of all water fixtures
  • Working on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs
  • Maintaining the building HVAC equipment in order to keep climate control in the warehouses functioning properly
  • Applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems; examples include, but are not limited to applying sealant to a flat roof, applying spray foam insulation or installing insulation boards to warehouse areas in need
  • Identify automotive problems, often by using computerized diagnostic equipment and software
  • Plan automotive work procedures using charts, technical manuals and experience
  • Test automotive parts and ensure they are working properly
  • Follow preventative maintenance checklists to ensure that all critical automotive parts and systems are examined
  • Perform basic automotive care and maintenance, including but not limited to changing oil, checking fluid levels, rotating tires, checking tire pressure, replacing light bulbs, etc…
  • Perform automotive repairs/replacements to manufacturer specifications
  • Communicate and explain automotive problems/repairs to leadership
  • Repair automotive brake and steering components and systems
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic components as needed
  • Repair or replace transmissions and fuel components as needed
  • Perform emissions inspections, safety checks and similar state-regulated vehicle examinations
  • Repair cooling components and systems, including, but not limited to air conditioners and engine cooling
  • Repair or replace worn automotive parts including, but not limited to brake pads/rotors, wheel bearings, sensors, etc…
  • Fully detail automotive fleet (all gas/diesel powered vehicles and equipment, as well as trailers) on a weekly basis
  • Produce legible and accurate paperwork reflecting work performed
  • Possess a valid driver’s license for conducting test drives
  • Fixing potential safety hazards and reporting unsafe working environments to leadership
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment at all times

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to dust. The employee may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, extreme cold, and extreme hot.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk and hear. The employee is required to bend, climb, lift, kneel, sit and/or stand for long periods of time; use hands to handle or feel and/or reach with hands and arms. The employee may lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Trade School Diploma (preferred)
  • Clean MVR
  • CDL-Class A, 1-year verifiable experience (preferred)
  • ASE Certification (preferred)
  • Plumbing, Carpentry or Electrical Certifications (preferred)
  • Possess basic experience in performing routine auto maintenance and general maintenance tasks
  • Possess a working knowledge of state inspection guidelines, including emissions and safety (preferred)

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

1. Must pass background check and drug test

2. Automotive diagnostics and troubleshooting

3. Computer Diagnostics OBD II and J10 connections

4. LP and Forklift Maintenance and Operations

5. Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

6. Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints and technical manuals

7. Experience using hand and power tools to repair and/or replace parts

8. Plumbing knowledge to address leaks, clogs or other drainage problems

9. Electrical wiring capabilities to manage problems with the warehouses’ electricity

10. Class 8 Truck and Maintenance

11. Detroit and Cummins Technical Training
