**Description**

* Inform appropriate staff of any accidents, injuries or any emergency situation or condition which would require the reassignment of additional couriers needed to provide optimized service.

* In an emergency situation you must be prepared to drive and escort employee for a drug screen and obtain an accident report from the courier. If the courier is severely hurt or injured please dial 911 for immediate medical attention.

* Performs a variety of routine clerical, administrative and technical work in receiving and dispatching routine and emergency information; keeping official records; and assisting in the administration of the standard operating policies and procedures of the laboratory courier dispatch center. Update logs and indexes files appropriately on a daily basis.

* Utilizing the departments computer-aided dispatch system you must maintain a log of all courier activity. Maintains a tracking mechanism of all couriers at all times.

* Provides transportation of mail, medical records, laboratory specimens, supplies, reports, and other as such that will require courier transport.

* Performs vehicle inspections, department in-services and proper biohazard transport inspections.

* Knowledge of required preservation of specimen during transport and handling.

* Demonstrates continued effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround time, streamline work process, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

* Suggest ideas and suggestions to supervisor or appropriate management staff members to improve the quality of service and schedules.

* Seeks and applies innovative and relevant techniques. Maximize resources and resolves unit team problems and promotes improvements.

* Respond to requests in a timely and polite manner. Work well with others in a respectful and cooperative, manner. Consistently promotes and exhibits courtesy, professionalism, to all co-workers, guests, and clients.

* Willingly mentors courier staff, shares knowledge, and communicates company requests and goals.
