Job Overview: This position is responsible for the timely and accurate implementation of legal documents involving birth certificates, social security cards and paternity affidavits including notarization of the affidavits. The clerk will be working with various internal and external departments to meet the needs of our customers. Accurate documentation and typing skills are imperative along with excellent customer service and patient relations skills. This position requires proficiency in data entry, excel, access database and data extraction from our electronic medical record system (EMR), to provide necessary medical information in the Integrated Public Health Information System (IPHIS), about the pregnancy and birth. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of medical terminology and will obtain an understanding of rules and regulations to comply with the Ohio Revised Code. Complex situations may require external collaboration with state and local health departments, Social Security Administration and the Ohio Paternity Enhancement Program. Job Requirements: Graduate of an approved technical, professional, or vocational program Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree Typing 50 WPM Microsoft office Excel, Access and EMR Stong communication and customer service skills Knowledge of Medical terminology 1-2 years experience in a related field Job Responsibilities: Other job-related information: Ability to complete all aspects of the birth clerk position from providing excellent customer service, to completing the birth record in IPHIS and the related spread sheets.Typing of birth registration must be extremely accurate and processed ideally within 10 business days of the birth.
