- Provide support of manufacturing and technical operations while maintaining a strong focus on continuous improvement and productivity optimization
- Oversee planning, preparing and executing projects related to the machinery used for the manufacture and assembly of components.
- Monitor and improve efficiency, output and safety of manufacturing processes through observations and measurements as well as collecting and interpreting data from other technical and operating personnel
- Develop and execute project plans to schedule for work activities coordinating across multiple functions and departments
- Troubleshoot and debug equipment
- Update and maintain technical documents and specifications
- Learn Lean Production Strategy across multiple Value Streams
- Support the preventive maintenance process of key production equipment
- Provide manufacturing team with technical engineering expertise supporting day-to-day production issues.
- Ensure successful transitioning of new products from product development to production; Develop and/or improve assembly fixtures in support of development and production of products
- Responsible for development of manufacturing processes, maximizing efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, manufacturing & assembly methods and work force utilization
- Create Standard Operating Procedures, training operators and maintenance personnel on such procedures. Collaborate with production to ensure processes and effectively and consistently executed.
- Determines tooling, fixtures and equipment needed in order to achieve optimal output
- Confer with R&D Engineering, Production/Manufacturing, Quality and Planning teams to determine project specifications and procedures
- Assesses manufacturability of product with R&D Engineering
- Participate in design reviews and approval phases
- Evaluate tooling or equipment requirements to support production/manufacturing
- Support design changes of product once it enters production
- Assist in the development of inspection criteria with Quality Control
- Support of Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities associated with development and production/ manufacturing problems
- Write Engineering Change Orders
- Work with Purchasing to develop and implement technical requirements for suppliers
- Work with cross functional teams to create and maintain methods of manufacturing within ERP system
- Oversee the development, evaluation, improvement and documentation of manufacturing processes.
- Analyze manufacturing processes using lean manufacturing tools and concepts in order to improve quality, efficiency, and reduce waste.
- Analyze staffing requirements, production times, and costs to provide data for operational decisions.
- Write qualification documents for new equipment and processes
- Bachelor level degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 8 years of experience, preferably in a medical device or other FDA regulated industry
- Demonstrated proficiency in Solid Works
- Machining, Tooling and Fixture design experience
- Experience with Fanuc and Epson robots
- Knowledge of vision systems, ultrasonic welding, and leak decay testers
- Experience in an ISO and/or FDA regulated medical device manufacturing environment, especially with plastic injection molded components.
- General knowledge of weld, machining & overall manufacturing process & equipment
- Solid working knowledge of standard computer applications including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external customers.
- Effectively teach, coach, and counsel associates by effectively communicating and providing follow-up.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within an ISO9001 facility
- Preferred electrical troubleshooting skills, use of volt/current meters with low voltage DC and 120/240 VAC
- Preferred understanding of PLC Ladder Logic for PLC debugging and programming
- Preferred being able to use a computer to connect to PLCs HMIs and other programmable devices for monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Preferred experience interfacing with suppliers to support process development and cost reduction for new products.
