- Support the design of new products and updates/upgrades to existing industrial equipment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure design criteria meet company, industry, and customer needs.
- Create, modify, and maintain equipment design ideas using 3D CAD software (preferably SOLIDWORKS or equivalent).
- Develop physical prototypes of designs.
- Examine materials and manufacturing requirements to determine production costs.
- Collaborate with specialists to evaluate design concepts for cost-effectiveness.
- Evaluate product safety, appearance, and function to determine practicality.
- Maintain industry-accepted drawing standards.
- Support engineering documentation and drawing control following company standards.
- Ensure designs meet all required agency certification standards.
- Identify opportunities for design or process improvements and actively participate in planning and execution.
- Implement creative solutions to reduce the cost of materials, components, and labor.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops and participation in professional societies.
- Assist with equipment hazard risk assessments
- Industrial equipment design and fabrication experience.
- High-temperature furnace design experience (preferred but not required).
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or alternative Mechanical Design Engineering field.
- 5-10 years of work experience in machine design engineering and machine manufacturing.
- Friendly and professional tone and actions.
- Inventive problem-solving skills.
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Strong ability to multitask.
- Project and process management skills.
- SOLIDWORKS & AutoCAD experience required.
- Systems engineering design methodology experience preferred.
- Mechanical and fluid simulation experience is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office/Windows.
- Some travel may be necessary for training, industry-related activities, or customer support.
- Typical office and manufacturing environments; noise levels range from quiet to moderate depending on activities.
- During this role, the employee regularly engages in verbal communication and utilizes hands for handling documents, objects, tools, or controls. Periodically involves standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
