Salary See Position Description Location Portland, OR Job Type Non-Union Limited Term Department Safety & Security (Non Union) Job Number 21-00051 Description Provide oversight and supervise the daily activities of the Safety Response Team field staff working to create a safe and welcoming system for all. Recommend deployment strategies and adjust resources as necessary based on operational needs. Responsible for the performance management of safety response team field staff. Ensure staff work cohesively and in coordination with agency Public Safety resources and outside agency personnel.

Ensure a commitment to safety through consistent and professional behaviors in performance of job requirements that demonstrate safety is a fundamental value that guides all aspects of our work. Perform related duties as required.

Serve as a good steward of TriMet by regularly utilizing our transit system to maintain a strong and current understanding of customers experiences and of TriMets product and service offerings.

Essential Functions

- Supervise Safety Response field personnel during normal daily operations and special events or activities, maintain daily report logs.

- Provide assistance to riders to ensure the system is safe and welcoming to all. This assistance may be in the form of linking to social or community services; providing basic first aid; providing mental health first aid; de-escalation and problem solving. May be a resource to transit police to assist with supporting a safe transit system.

- Support Safety Response Team personnel and trainees. Assist in designing continued training programs, opportunities, and schedules.

- Work as a team member with Safety and Security Division to ensure that the mission and goals of TriMet are accomplished in a timely manner and in a spirit of teamwork.

- Evaluate the effectiveness of Safety Response Team personnel and trainees in accordance with directives and instructions from program manager.

- Evaluate recommendations from Manager for stops, routes, and schedule adjustments. Determine best coverage based on call volume and need.

- Respond to customer calls and complaints in a timely manor.

- Responsible for daily coordination with internal TriMet field resources and external partner agencies.

Position Requirements Bachelor's degree required. Bachelor's degree in Business, Applied Science, Human Services, Health Science, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, preferred.

A minimum of six(6) years total credited experience.*

Two (2) years of experience in public safety, law enforcement, fire, EMS, corrections, military, nursing, community health worker, EMS, social services, public health, or similar discipline to provide the experience needed, required.

Two (2) years of experience Program development and evaluation in public safety, public health, or social services, preferred.

One (1) years experience as a lead required.

ACM - Certified Case Management; CCM - Certified Case Manager; CSWCM - Social Work Case Manager Certification; LCSW - Licensed Medical Social Worker - State Licensure; LMSW - Licensed Medical SW; TSSP - Transit Safety and Security Program (Bus and Rail); or AHSS - Certification As A Security Officer, preferred.

Or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Valid driver's license required.

*The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. Experience is prorated based on hours worked. LRHR assigns and validates the "credited experience".

- Knowledge of, ability to, and demonstrate in L.A.S.T., Listen - Apologize - find Solutions and Thank the customer

- Demonstrated ability to convey and receive information orally and in written form in a clear manner.

- Demonstrated ability to facilitate and create an atmosphere of support and cooperation.

- Ability to use independent judgment and make decisions.

- Ability to analyze and resolve problems diplomatically.

- Ability to provide effective training in field supervisory functions.

******Salary Range:******Minimum: $65,896.00

Maximum: $83,606.00
