POSITION TITLE

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A valid Colorado Type D Administrator’s Certificate/License
  • Must be approved by North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.
  • A Master’s Degree or higher
  • At least five (5) years successful teaching experience at the appropriate level, with two (2) years administrative experience.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO:

Superintendent and Board of Education.

JOB SUMMARY:

To use leadership, supervisory and administrative skills so as to promote the educational development of

each student.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises the educational program of the school.
  • Assumes responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board Policies and regulations by the staff and students of the school.
  • Responsible for the development, revision and evaluation of the curriculum.
  • Supervises all professional, paraprofessional, administrative and non-professional personnel attached to the school and makes recommendations concerning the school’s administration and instruction.
  • Assists in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning and evaluating of the professional staff of the school.
  • Every person who is responsible for the evaluation of certificated personnel shall be evaluated on his/her ability to make fair, professional and credible evaluations of the personnel who he/she is responsible for evaluating.
  • Assumes responsibility for the safety and administration of the school facilities for both academic and non-academic purposes.
  • Plans and supervises fire drills and an emergency preparedness program.
  • Supervises the Guidance Program to enhance individual student education and development.
  • Delegates authority to responsible personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal.
  • Budgets school time to provide for the efficient conduct of school instruction and business.
  • Assumes responsibility for the attendance and social and emotional health of students while maintaining high standards of student conduct and enforcing discipline as necessary, according due process to the rights of students.
  • Supervises and evaluates the extra-curricular programs of the school.
  • Approves the master teaching schedule and any special assignments.
  • Maintains and controls the various local funds generated by student activities.
  • Supervises the preparation of all school reports for the district office.
  • Supervises the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of students.
  • Organizes and administers the public relations program of the school and assumes responsibility for all official school correspondence and news releases.
  • Provides for adequate inventories of property under his/her jurisdiction and for the security and accountability for that property.
  • Conducts meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.
  • Recommends the removal of a teacher whose work is unsatisfactory, according to established procedures.
  • Keeps the Superintendent informed of the school’s activities and problems.
  • Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs; to interpret board policy and administrative directives; and to discuss and resolve individual student problems.
  • Assumes responsibility for his/her own professional growth and development by keeping abreast of changes and innovations in the profession through attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field, and through enrollment in advanced courses.
  • Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Superintendent may from time to time assign.
