The Title IX Coordinator supports Trinity’s ongoing work to create a campus culture that is welcoming and inclusive for students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds with members of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team.

The coordinator works collaboratively across diverse stakeholders to advance initiatives designed to accomplish these goals.

Under the supervision of the AVP for DEI and Compliance, the Title IX Coordinator serves as the primary contact for and coordinates the college’s response to all allegations pertaining to sex discrimination, harassment, and sexual violence.

The role oversees interpretation and implementation of Title IX policies and procedures including providing consultation, referrals, intake, and case management.

The coordinator provides centralized support for compliance with Title IX of the Educational Amendments Act of 1972, the Clery Act, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and College policies (Sexual Harassment Policy) relating to equal opportunity in education.

Primary Responsibilities :

1. Assist the AVP for DEI and Compliance with broader initiatives designed to advance

organizational DEI goals.

  • Create and implement culturally responsive educational programs and processes designed to advance organizational DEI goals
  • Support initiatives focused on education and prevention efforts for the community related to discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct in collaboration with campus partners
  • Assist in creating and implementing mechanisms for data collection, tracking, and analysis and identify, summarize, and present relevant research and data to support decision making
  • Assist with office budgetary management

2. Lead the College’s Title IX compliance function

  • Ensure College policies and procedures are in compliance with federal and Connecticut state laws that apply to the development of an educational environment that is free from discrimination, harassment, and sexual violence, including Title IX, Violence Against Women’s Act, and the Clery Act
  • Guide Trinity’s review, development, and implementation of policies and procedures as they relate to conduct proscribed by Title IX to establish the College’s systematic Title IX case management and individual complaint response procedures, including processes to govern investigations, case records, set interim measures and establish remedies
  • Oversee the selection, training, work, and assessment of Title IX Deputy Coordinators, investigators, and panel members to ensure application of consistent practices and fair standards for all complaints · Serve as the primary contact to work with both complainants and respondents and ensure a fair, timely, equitable, and reliable process is communicated and implemented for all reports under Title IX
  • Lead the Sexual Assault Resource Team (SART) and the Title IX Advisory Board in offering support, guidance, referral and information to the Office of Title IX and the College
  • Cultivate relationships while collaborating with a variety of campus partners to ensure Title IX policies are communicated to all constituencies and create partnerships among the diverse constituencies of the campus and local community
  • When required and / or appropriate, work with Campus Safety and local law enforcement officials to ensure proper policies and procedures are in place and implemented in accordance with Title IX compliance · Understand current legislation and remain knowledgeable of federal, state, and local laws and regulations and understand best practices as related to Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, discrimination, and harassment
  • Identify and integrate best practices into knowledge base and practices
  • Track trends, reports, and addresses systemic problems relating to complaints

3. Perform other related duties as assigned and based on departmental need. Qualifications Master’s Degree Area of Expertise : Social work, higher education administration, legal studies, psychology or related field. JD preferred.

3-5 years of experience working in a higher education environment, including 2-3 years of experience investigating, adjudicating, and / or resolving allegations of discrimination, harassment, or sexual misconduct;

1-3 years of experience working on initiatives designed to advance organizational DEI goals and identifying, assessing, and presenting data for decision-making.

Experience in the regulatory environment of higher education such as Title IX, equity office, or student affairs

  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations that pertain to discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct
  • Effective oral and written communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills · Strong conflict resolution, negotiation, collaboration, and facilitation skills and experience
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to consider complex issues from diverse perspectives
  • Ability to exercise a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a diverse team
  • Availability as needed for some early mornings, evenings, and weekends
