Adjunct Faculty – Health Science, Advanced Technical Center

Trinity Washington University is seeking a dynamic educator to teach first-year courses within the General Nursing program for the Advanced Technical Center (ATC), a high school dual enrollment program in the College of Arts & Sciences for Fall Semester 2024, Winter Term 2025, Spring Semester 2025 and May Term 2024. The adjunct instructor will teach these courses at the ATC’s Penn Center, which is located at 1709 3^rd St NE. Trinity is seeking a candidate who can teach one or both sections of the following: 

The Fall Semester ATC classes start on August 26, 2024. This role would include additional compensation commensurate with the additional teaching hours at a rate of $1,375 per credit.

For the Fall Semester 2024, the 4-credit HPNU 101: Principles of Health Science course per the following schedule: 

HPNU 101/1: MTWTHF 8:25-9:45 AM

HPNU 101/5: MTWTHF 2:40-4:00 PM

For Winter Term 2025, the 1-credit INT 110: Experiential Learning I: Health Science course per the following schedule: 

INT 110/1: MTWTHF 8:25-9:45 AM

INT 110/5: MTWTHF 2:40-4:00 PM

For Spring Semester 2025, the 4-credit HPNU 201: Health Promotion, Nutrition & Diet Therapy per the following schedule: 

HPNU 201/1: MTWTHF 8:25-9:45 AM

HPNU 201/5: MTWTHF 2:40 – 4:00 PM

For May Term 2025, the 2-credit NSCM 100: Medical Terminology & Pre-Science Skills Lab course per the following schedule: 

NSCM 100/1: MTWTHF 8:25-9:45 AM

NSCM 100/5: MTWTHF 2:40 – 4:00 PM

Compensation - $965/credit

The Advanced Technical Center is a partnership with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education to provide DC high school students with the opportunity to complete dual enrollment pathways in health sciences.

QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates should have earned at least a Master’s degree from an accredited institution and be able to demonstrate strong teaching skills. Previous undergraduate or high school classroom experience required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching dual enrollment students, and who demonstrate excellence with engaged and active learning practices.

Official transcripts for all degrees earned, sample course syllabi, course evaluations and/or other evidence of teaching effectiveness, and contact information for three professional references will be needed if the candidate is invited to campus for an interview. Knowledge of best teaching practices is required. Finalists will be invited for an interview and teaching demonstration.
