Job Description: Responsible for the development and implementation of departmental initiatives and programs that enhance the education and development of Trinity University residential students.
  • Serves on the Residential Life Leadership Team with the Director of Residential Life and Assistant Director of Housing Operations.
  • Leads the planning, execution, and assessment of departmental programs/initiatives/events in the First-Year Area, Sophomore College, and Upper Division Area. Works with the Director of Residential Life to ensure the connection of the residential education experience to the University strategic plan and Student Affairs learning outcomes.
  • Supervises four Residential Life Coordinators. Directs, coordinates and evaluates employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all policies and applicable laws. Interviews, hires and trains employees; plans, assigns and directs work; creates work schedules and conducts performance appraisals, counsels and disciplines employees; and addresses complaints and resolves problems.
  • Participates in the Residential Life director-level on call rotation, including break and holiday period. Provides leadership in crisis situations and ensures continuity of emergency protocols and procedures.
  • Coordinates the Resident Assistant selection and training processes.
  • Collaborates with Academic Affairs and other campus partners to develop and sustain living communities.
  • Plans and executes annual departmental assessment initiatives; responsible for the department’s Annual Assessment Report.
  • Establishes the annual residential programming calendar and communicates it to key stakeholders.
  • Serves as the primary liaison for educational programming collaborations with the Center for Experiential Learning and Career Success, the Center for International Engagement and the Center for Student Success.
  • Manages the residence hall programming budget.
  • Manages all logistics regarding Residential Life involvement in New Tiger Orientation programs.
  • Manages and maintains all departmental electronic media (departmental web pages, parent portal content, social media, etc.).
  • Assists the Dean of Students office with the student conduct hearings upon request.
  • Serves on divisional and University committees as relevant to the role (e.g. CliftonStrengths Team).
Additional Duties
  • Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality and interacts with confidence, patience and integrity to provide professional leadership during emergencies.
  • Complies with all Trinity University policies and guidelines.
  • Serves on various University committees, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.
EDUCATION Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Strongly Preferred:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
ExperienceRequired:
  • At least two years of full-time live-in experience as a full-time member of a residential life staff on a college campus with a total of five years of full-time work experience in higher education.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and assessing educational programs and/or residential curriculum.
