ABOUT THE POSTION :

We are seeking a motivated Leadman responsible for supervising and maintain order in the warehouse. This nonexempt (hourly) position typically reports directly to the Warehouse Supervisor or Manager.

The position requires working in accordance with Triple-S Steel job requirements and Safe Methods of Work. Overtime hours may be required to meet our customers’ needs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure warehouse personnel are assigned to the appropriate work areas throughout the working day in order to meet deadlines for all processes.
• Ensure all pre-shift or daily inspections are conducted, recorded and reported, as required, and any defective or damaged items are removed from workplace.
• Directing production, shipping, cost, quality, and safety so that goals are met.
• Reviewing schedules, determining work force requirements, and monitoring productivity to ensure customer requirements are met.
• Make decisions regarding workflow throughout the day to ensure daily operational objectives are met.
• Monitor on an established basis, operations, procedures and employees to ensure quality, service and productivity objectives are met
• Troubleshooting operational and maintenance problems and taking preventive and / or corrective action.
• Ensure all established Triple S Steel polices are enforced and followed by all employees. Such as, but not limited to, Quality Policy, Security, Safety, Health, Environmental, Attendance and all other policies.
• Monitor, control, assure completion and maintain recordkeeping of all inspections of forklifts, overhead cranes, fire extinguishers, and lifting devices.
• Monitor and control security of buildings, forklifts, vehicles, gate entrances into both yards and equipment assigned to Warehouse.
• Monitor and control safety, and operations of fueling stations.
• Monitor, gauge and control inventory of fuels, lubricants and oils.
• Assist in all Incident / Accident Investigations as Member of Branch Safety Committee
• Order, purchase and Issuance of Purchase Orders, items required for maintenance or repairs of equipment, machinery and vehicles assigned to Warehouse.
• Ensure that all entry points are secure, opened / closed at scheduled times, monitor and control of the traffic maintained.
• Control and maintain open, accurate communications between all departments, customers and vendors.
• Maintain Kronos, approve or disprove and document explanation of all department personnel attendance, request of PTO, explanations of tardiness or early leave, and ensure completion of deadlines.
• Supervisory Responsibilities : Train new team members on will calls, deliver orders, check stock, inventory, inspections, reporting, use of computers, etc.

Assist Operations Manager with updating and retraining all department personnel, of all safety training, inspections, operating procedures, reporting, recordkeeping, customer relations, will calls, delivery tickets, work orders, and documentation.

Reports directly to the Operations Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Three years’ experience in a distribution environment (preferably steel distribution)
• Three years’ experience in overhead crane operations
• Three years’ experience in forklift operations
• Three years’ experience in flatbed freight both bobtail and tractor / trailer
• Two years’ experience in a supervisory or management role
