Trister, Ross, Schadler & Gold, PLLC is hiring an associate attorney to work in our employment law practice group, with a focus on advising progressive non-profit employers on all aspects of employment law. We are looking for a lawyer with at least three (3) years of experience in employment law. Responsibilities include:

· Advising nonprofits on all aspects of employment law compliance, including, but not limited to, hiring, personnel management, leaves of absence, accommodations, wage and hour, anti-discrimination law compliance, performance management, and other employment related matters;

· Creating, reviewing, and updating employee handbooks;

· Workplace investigations;

· Defending nonprofits facing investigations from the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and other federal and state agencies with respect to employment charges and claims;

· Monitoring key employment law legislative changes and providing timely information and updates to ensure compliance with changing regulatory, statutory, or best practice guidelines; and

· Drafting employment contracts and negotiating settlement agreements.

The ideal candidate will have excellent academic credentials, oral and written communications skills and be either a member of the D.C. Bar or admitted to the Bar in another state and prepared to apply for reciprocal admission from D.C. Experience with nonprofit organizations, labor unions, or political campaigns and/or a strong commitment to furthering nonprofit and political work is highly valued. While this position will be primarily focused on advising nonprofit employers, litigation skills are a plus. The successful candidate will also have a collaborative disposition and an ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in various areas of employment law.

Washington, D.C. area location is preferred but we are open to remote work arrangements. Attorneys within commuting distance of our Dupont Circle office in D.C. work on a hybrid schedule (~1 day/week in the office). Compensation will be commensurate with experience, ranging from $120K-$160K annually plus a discretionary annual bonus and a business origination bonus.
