ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE

Directly Reports To: Director of Maintenance

Mission of this Position: Work in direct liaison with the D.O.M of Company, coordinating changes of maintenance with company policies and FAA concerns and all modifications changes required by flight operations following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to properly plan. Ensures quality work, safety, reliability, developing capable employees, and effective tools, and by judicious use of personnel, equipment, and supplies.

Key Responsibilities: Meet or exceed duties/expectations displaying initiative, adhering to TOA SOPs, FAA regulations 14 CFR § 119.69 and 119.71 describing ADOM duties and aligning with core values of the organization.

FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUPPORT:

  • Supervise staff in performing maintenance to TOA and FAA standards.
  • Supervise or perform aircraft maintenance.
  • Assist DOM to perform final inspection and approval of aircraft after departmental action.
  • Prepare daily turnover statistics. 

ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT:

  • Assist DOM to ensure needed parts are on hand for timely equipment turn-around.
  • Procure parts and schedule staff to meet organizational needs timely.
  • Long-term forecasting of fleet maintenance needs and the impact on supply for the sales division. 
  • Approve invoices for finance, to meet budget expectations.
  • Demonstrate keen communication skills to provide excellence in customer service both internally and externally.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT:

  • Focus on continuous improvement of personnel, their skills and the tools they need to perform their tasks. 
  • Responsible for training new personnel to meet TOA standards and the on-going evaluation and mentoring of all team members.
  • Collaborate with Chief Inspector and Maintenance Controller for accuracy of logbooks and hours logged. 

Essential Skill Set: In addition to having a FAA airframe and powerplant license and aircraft systems knowledge required; the person in this role will be an excellent and effective communicator, will have strong critical thinking skills, will focus on meeting and exceeding FAA, safety and SOP standards, will have keen attention to detail and time management and will act with honesty, integrity and respect. Must have minimum 5 years’ experience with FAA regulations and CFR Part 135 air carrier operations where the normal duties and responsibilities include staff supervision and team building, as well as minimum five years’ experience with Cessna Caravan 208 or PT-6 Turboprop Engines.
