The Business Development Coordinator supports the initiatives and growth opportunities for the firm’s Privacy Cyber and White Collar Investigations practices. This position is part of the broader Business Litigation BD team and provides similar support to other practices as needed. This role works collaboratively with, and as an integral part of, the Marketing and Business Development team.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies to cultivate business with current and prospective clients.
  • Conduct client, prospect, industry, competitor, and market research/analysis to inform targeted business development efforts.
  • Assist in the creation of high quality, tailored pitch materials, responses to RFPs and client presentations.
  • Assist with the development of legal directory and award submissions.
  • Assist with the development and distribution of client alerts, newsletters, blogs, and other thought leadership pieces.
  • Coordinate the planning and execution of events, sponsorships, webinars and speaking engagements. This includes venue research, coordinating budget and logistics, drafting marketing communications (invitations, presentations, collateral, etc.), coordinating with vendors, program development, on-site support, tracking and follow up activities.
  • Work with the firm’s communications team to effectively promote the successes and legal expertise of the group’s attorneys, including identifying media, publishing and speaking opportunities that align with the profile-raising objectives of the practices.
  • Identify cross-practice connections and opportunities for practices to increase internal visibility.
  • Collect and organize matter data for inclusion in Foundation, the firm’s experience management system.
  • Handle InterAction-related functions—develop and maintain marketing lists and business development activities, research, reports, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with the firm’s Practice Management department to assist with internal organizational efforts of the group, as appropriate, including participation in practice group meetings.
  • Identify and respond to internal and external client inquiries in a timely manner and seek feedback/follow-up as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Prior successful work history supporting a legal practice or similar experience required.
  • Strong project and process management capabilities.
  • Highly motivated, results-oriented, creative and collaborative.
  • Must be well-organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Must be proactive and able to remain flexible while delivering high quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Works well under pressure and is able to manage and prioritize simultaneous, time-sensitive deadlines across assigned practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with practice group attorneys, Marketing and Business Development Department peers, and other administrative departments of the firm.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Able to work independently while keeping BD leadership and attorneys apprised of progress on identified BD projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and with teams to promote consistent and efficient workflow processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide high-quality service and partner effectively with diverse groups of people at various levels within the firm as well as external contacts.
Education And/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of four (4) years of marketing and business development experience, preferably within a law firm or a professional services organization.
