Date: April 23, 2024Position: CTE Teacher (HVAC/Electrical Trades/Construction)Location: Lincoln County School of TechnologyTerms of Contract: Permanent, 10 months, full-time, benefit eligibleReports To: Principal, Lincoln County School of TechnologyMonthly Salary: Teacher State Salary Schedule (plus local supplement)FLSA: EXEMPTQualifications/Requirement: Must hold or be eligible to hold a North Carolina teaching license in appropriate licensure area (74026 Trade and Industrial Education - Construction). Related degrees include Carpentry, Construction Management, Building Construction, Electrician, Electrical Trades, or HVAC. The qualified candidate will have construction industry experience in the construction management, carpentry, electrical, HVAC fields. In addition, the qualified candidate will have related work experiences in the following manner (2 years within the past 5 years with a Bachelor's degree; 4 years within the past 8 years with Associate's; 6 years within the past 10 years with a HS diploma). The successful candidate must earn the OSHA 10-Hour-Construction certificate, complete the NCCER Instructor Certified Training Program (ICTP) and complete the New CTE Teacher Institute. Goal: Provide students with skills and practical hands-on-experiences in the areas of Electrical Trades and HVAC. To prepare students for entry-level positions and/or further education at two-year or four-year post-secondary institutions. To prepare students with marketable job skills. To fully develop the Electrical Trades and HVAC programs for the Lincoln County Schools CTE department. Duties
Develop interpersonal relationships with students and LCST staff
Provide rigorous and relevant instructional opportunities and skill development activities to secondary pupils, using the course of study provided by NCDPI and adopted by the Board of Education
Implement and build the Electrical Trades and HVAC programs at the Lincoln County School of Technology
Develop relationships with local electricians and HVAC Technicians who will promote partnerships and future internship/apprenticeship opportunities for students
Develop relationships with post-secondary institutions and encourage students to seek post-secondary educational opportunities in Electrical Trades and HVAC
Encourage and support students' efforts to earn NCCER industry-recognized credentials in Electrical Trades and HVAC
Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
Organize class activities so that preparation, instruction or shop work, and clean-up activities can be accomplished within the allotted class time
Demonstrate skill techniques in Electrical Trades and HVAC and prepare appropriate instructional aids and display materials to enhance learning
Provide individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil
Instruct pupils in use, care, and safe operation of classroom and lab equipment
Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the classroom and the lab.
Evaluate each pupil's progress in concepts and skills of subject taught and contribution to a group, project, or goal
Select and requisition books, instructional aids, and equipment; maintain required inventory records; purchase materials and other supplies as authorized
Encourage pupils to demonstrate learned techniques at home with their families
Communicate with parents and school counselors on pupil progress
Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems
Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day
Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs
Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities (relevant SkillsUSA CTSO activities)
Maintain current career information for pupils interested in professional careers and resource materials for those who plan to study Electrical Trades, HVAC, or a related field
Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district, and in self-selected professional growth activities
Must be able to perform heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of forces frequently, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force constantly to lift objects
Other duties as assigned
