The following vacancy exists in Goshen Community Schools for the 2024-25 school year: Goshen High SchoolYearbook SponsorThe Yearbook Sponsor is responsible for guiding students through creating the school yearbook and ensuring that it is completed on time, within budget, and meets high-quality standards. This role involves teaching, coordinating, and managing various aspects of yearbook production, from concept development to final publication. Key Responsibilities
Mentor and lead the yearbook staff, usually comprised of students, by providing guidance, support, and instruction.
Develop a positive and productive working environment for the yearbook staff.
Establish and adhere to a production schedule with deadlines for each phase of the yearbook creation process.
Monitor progress to ensure the project stays on track and meets deadlines.
Guide students in developing the yearbook theme, design, and content.
Review and approve all content, including text, photographs, and layouts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to school policies.
Coordinate photo-taking sessions, including school events, sports, clubs, and candid shots.
Ensure a diverse and comprehensive representation of the school community.
Teach students the principles of graphic design and layout.
Oversee the use of design software and tools, assisting as needed.
Develop and manage the yearbook budget.
Oversee fundraising activities and the sale of yearbooks to ensure financial goals are met.
Work closely with school administrators, teachers, and staff to gather information and coordinate yearbook activities.
Maintain clear and open communication with the yearbook staff and other stakeholders.
Liaise with the yearbook publishing company, managing contracts, deadlines, and submission requirements.
Ensure all materials are submitted to the publisher on time and in the correct format.
Provide training and development opportunities for yearbook staff, including workshops, seminars, and hands-on instruction.
Foster skill development in writing, editing, photography, and design.
Conduct thorough reviews and edits of all yearbook content to ensure high standards of quality and accuracy.
Address any issues or corrections promptly.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education, English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
Previous experience in teaching, journalism, photography, graphic design, or yearbook production is preferred.
Skills:
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Photoshop).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage a budget and handle financial tasks.
Creativity and attention to detail.
