High School Dean of Academics 2024-25About RISE Prep Mayoral Academy RISE Prep Mayoral Academy is a small network of college preparatory public charter schools located in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, where college preparation begins in kindergarten. Our flagship K-8 school opened its doors to our founding class of kindergarteners in August 2015, and that founding class will now become our founding class at our newly approved high school. Through a rigorous curriculum, highly structured learning environment, and character education, RISE Prep Mayoral Academy ensures that all Kindergarten through 12th grade students achieve the academic skills, content knowledge, and character required for success in college and a life of community engagement.
RISE Prep joins Rhode Island Mayoral Academies in establishing intentionally diverse schools that enroll from both urban and suburban communities. We believe that part of our mission is to teach the importance and value of diversity within classrooms and communities. RISE Prep curriculum will include a community engagement component to ensure habits of service, helping, and kindness are fostered within our students to shape engaged and caring members of their communities.

Responsibilities Of a Dean Of AcademicsInstructional LeadershipCoach a caseload of instructional staff (and possibly other positions) to further develop their instructional skills to engage 100% of scholars Observe lessons regularly and meet one-on-one with teachers to give targeted feedback on instructional and classroom management practices Research and provide resources to support effective instruction Model effective instructional practices as appropriate
Lead Professional DevelopmentLead grade and/or subject teams in planning units, lessons and assessments Lead data analysis, reviewing student work and assessment results, setting ambitious but appropriate goals for student growth and achievement, and ensuring instruction is responsive to data Create and present engaging, relevant, and motivating staff professional development sessions
Serve as a Member of the Core High School Leadership TeamWork closely with principal to set vision and goals, and promote productive and positive team culture Participate in weekly leadership team meetings Provide school-wide behavior management systems and culture systems Participate in managing flexible and non-traditional academic programming, including scholar coursework through partner programs (e.g., ACN), dual and concurrent enrollment, CTE coursework, and internships Collaborate with special populations leads to implement systems that effectively support success for students with IEPs, 504s, MLL supports, behavior intervention plans, and MTSS plans Communicate and meet with families to support student success with meeting the expectations of our program Support occasional extracurricular events outside of school-day hours as needed, including family "town hall" meetings, athletic events, and social events Model professionalism for colleagues
