Instructional Coach for Middle School 2024-25 Be an Instructional Coach at RISE Prep Mayoral Academy, where College Begins in Kindergarten.RISE Prep Mayoral Academy knows that teacher quality is the most important factor driving scholar achievement. We also know that behind every excellent teacher, is an exceptional instructional coach. The Middle School Instructional Coach at RISE Prep will provide teachers in grades 5-8 with consistent coaching cycles necessary for improvement. Instructional coaches are experts at instructional practices, classroom management, and have strong understanding of content knowledge. We are seeking an instructional coach who believes strongly in our mission and whose actions demonstrate high expectations for themselves, scholars, families, and colleagues. We hire smart, driven people who are relentless in their work and have the characteristics and experiences necessary to deliver ambitious results for scholars. Qualifications Embody RISE Prep Mayoral Academy's mission, vision, and RISE values (Respect, Integrity, Self-Determination, Excellence) Believe in the urgency and importance of providing an outstanding college preparatory academic and character education to all scholars and have a "whatever-it-takes" attitude Take ownership for the academic results of their scholars Work well within a team and approach all work with positivity and determination Are goal-driven, analytical problem solvers, and embody a can-do spirit and strong work ethic Are committed to ending the disparity in high quality options between urban and suburban communities in regards to education 3-5 years of experience as a teacher with proven track record of success in academic outcomes and classroom management 1-2 years of experience coaching and/or managing other adults in a school setting Exceptional verbal and written communication Experience and comfort with Teach Like a Champion, and other effective instructional practices for instructional delivery and classroom management Strong professional development planning skills that thoughtfully plans rounds of practice and feedback for each session Strong time management and self starter skills with the ability to design and implement a consistent observation, debrief, and coaching schedule based on teacher and classroom need Strong professional development planning skills that thoughtfully plans rounds of practice and feedback for each session Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree and a Middle School teaching certificate (or 7-12 certificate or 1-6 certificate with Middle School extension) from the Rhode Island Department of Education. Special Education or Multilingual Learner certification or endorsements are a plus.
ResponsibilitiesInstructional Coaches at RISE Prep will: Provide teachers with consistent coaching cycles necessary for improvement Be experts at instructional practices and have strong understanding of content knowledge Attend any offered professional development and workshops that develop coaches' skills in effective instructional delivery techniques and classroom management Work closely with Deans of Academics to develop a deep understanding of RISE Prep's curriculum and respective grade-level content understanding Create an action plan for development and growth for each teacher in collaboration with the Dean of Academics for their grade span and aligned with RISE Prep instructional and classroom management expectations Observe teachers within their grade span often, providing clear, actionable, and meaningful feedback through verbal and written follow up Possess the skills, experience, and comfort to jump into a lesson to model best instructional practices for teachers Meet with teachers on a regular and scheduled basis for debriefing, reviewing feedback, and determining next steps Track all feedback and teacher observation data in RISE Prep internal coaching platforms Support in the development of improvement and support plans as needed Facilitate and participate in professional development sessions regarding instructional practices at RISE Prep Effectively and respectively collaborate with school leaders and teachers to work together towards common goals and initiatives
Success of the instructional coach role will be measured through: Increased teacher evaluation scores on EEM over time Increased instructional and classroom rubric achievement Increased achievement and growth scores on NWEA MAP Assessments Increased scores on RICAS and NGSA
