Job Requirements: Requirements: Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's Degree preferred All Grades Music certification preferred Minimum of two years of teaching experience at the elementary or middle school level and/or working with children who have complex learning styles Candidates must have experience differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all students. Knowledge of multi-sensory teaching techniques Training and knowledge of a variety of music programs and methods for teaching Energetic, creative, organized, passionate about connecting with complex learners, and an advocate for the arts Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Collaborate with the art teacher to plan for and teach an Integrated Art and Music Program tied to core studies (i.e., social studies, science, math, language arts). Collaborate and communicate with occupational therapists, speech therapists, classroom teachers, and support staff to develop and implement appropriate student plans. Plans/executes a balanced music/performing arts program and organizes class time so that preparation, rehearsal, and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time. Lessons and materials are organized and objectives are clear. Provides individual and small group instruction as needed to adapt music curriculum to meet the needs of each student. Encourages students to develop individual musical skills to the greatest extent possible. Prepare students and organize performances for the annual All School Holiday Event. Teach a music-based elective, three - four sessions throughout the year. Teach afterschool music/performing arts program, once per week, if needed. Evaluates each student's musical growth, performance, and musical understanding. Assesses each individual's contribution to the performance of the group. Provide input at team meetings and written reports to communicate with parents and staff on student progress as well as to address any challenges. Engage in ongoing professional development. Support positive reinforcement systems and behavior management techniques within the classroom. Maintain documentation and data collection as needed. Complete report cards twice per year. Perform assigned duties for snack, lunch and recess for all students a few times per week. Other duties as assigned.
