The Klickitat School District is a K-12 district located in the Columbia River Gorge serving about 70 students in Klickitat County, WA. Assignment: The Klickitat School District is seeking an energetic and student-focused candidate for our Secondary Math Teacher position. The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing math educational opportunities for rural students of various ages and ability levels, and a commitment to going above and beyond to support students in achieving their personal and academic goals. The position primarily involves teaching math for grades 6-12 in small class sizes, with an annual rotation of core middle school math, Algebra I & II, Geometry, and Integrated/Financial Math. Course offerings may vary from year to year based on student needs. Additional teaching duties and course assignments may be adjusted to meet the needs of students and the district. Salary: Teacher pay scale currently ranges from $52,370.00 - $98,708.00 annually based on education and experience. Other extracurricular roles and pay stipends may also be available. Essential Functions The following responsibilities are required of the position, plus any other duties that may be required by the employer. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the building administrator.
  • Teach and instruct high school students at all levels of math, from algebra I to calculus.
  • Develop lesson plans and teaching outlines using Washington State Standards.
  • Teach using a variety of methodologies, including inquiry, demonstrations, discussions and technology/laboratory experiences.
  • Plan, develop, and utilize a variety of instructional materials and aids appropriate to the intellectual and instructional level of students from varied socio-economic backgrounds who possess a range of mental and emotional maturity.
  • Provide group and individual instruction to motivate students and effectively utilize the time available for instructional activities.
  • Prepare, administer, score, record and report student growth data.
  • Counsel, confer with, and communicate with parents and school/district personnel regarding pupil progress.
  • Monitor children's interactions and nurture cooperation and team building.
  • Collaborate with all school staff members.
  • Follow and comply with teaching standards and safety regulation.
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. Preferred Qualifications: Teaching Certification. Math or related endorsement(s). One year of teaching experience. Working Conditions/Employment Requirements Working Conditions: Classroom environment. Employment Requirements: Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
