TrulyHired is Hiring a Special Education Instructional Assistant: Part Time Near Warwick, MA

The Warwick Community School, nestled in the scenic woodlands of Western Massachusetts, seeks a part-time special education paraeducator to provide 1-1 academic, social-emotional, and behavioral support. Our beautiful and innovative elementary school opened in the fall of 2023. The school sits on a 25-acre outdoor campus with a vernal pool, a cranberry bog, and Mount Grace for hiking! The Role: The Special Education Instructional Assistant will provide direct support to student(s) under the direction of a special education teacher, individually or in a small group, in the general education classroom, or outside of the classroom. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to: Implement accommodations and modifications outlined in Individualized Education Plans. Work with students (1:1 or small group) to support their social, emotional, and academic growth and progress. Implement behavior modification techniques. Collect data as outlined by students' individual programming and overseen by the teacher. Enable student(s) to become independent. Your Skill Set: As the incoming Special Educator Instructional Assistant, you will possess the following characteristics and qualifications: Effectively work with students with disabilities and needs. Effectively work with students who may require behavioral de-escalation techniques and/or physical support. Commitment towards inclusion that benefits all students socially, emotionally, and academically Positive outlook, strong interpersonal skills, and maintain confidentiality Growth mindset and desire to learn Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, special education teachers, related service providers, administration, and families. Bachelor of Arts degree or equivalent PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described below represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform basic functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to assist students in performing tasks, speak to deliver instruction and behavioral directives and hear. The employee must frequently stand, walk, sit, jog, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may also be required to use physical interventions to maintain the safety of students. Salaries are competitive with local districts and commensurate with experience.
