TrulyHired is Hiring a Special Education Teacher Near Hyannis, MA

Sturgis Charter Public School is actively seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year. Our Special Education teachers play an important role in supporting the growth and learning of students on Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) within our dynamic International Baccalaureate for All curriculum. We are looking for individuals who not only bring expertise but also possess a sense of responsibility, diversity, inclusion, and openness to grow within the Sturgis community. Instruction: -Manage a caseload of students, employing effective teaching strategies for learning, behavioral, and emotional challenges. -Communicate regularly with parents, fostering a collaborative approach to student success. -Create a learning environment that provides necessary support for students to stretch their academic limits while remaining flexible to address special education needs. -Utilize digital formats, including Google Classroom, to ensure students can access materials. -In a small classroom setting provide direct instruction on study skills, transition skill building, and academic content areas as needed. -Push into general education to provide academic, social, and emotional support to students. IEPs: -Draft, review, and adhere to IEPs, ensuring individualized support for each student. -Complete Progress Notes, maintaining organized records in a shared folder. -Present in IEP Meetings, Team meetings, and student support meetings. -Monitor teachers' implementation of accommodations and modifications as needed. -Collaborate with content area teachers to modify the curriculum and support inclusive learning. General: -Hold Special Education certification or be eligible for certification. -Demonstrate experience and a working understanding of individuals with various disabilities and applied behavior management. -Understand special education law and have experience writing IEPs, Progress Notes, and conducting ongoing data collection and progress monitoring for students. -Possess strong organizational and communication skills. -Work collaboratively with administration, teachers, school staff, the counseling department, related service providers, and other team members. -Experience working with students on the Autism Spectrum and Emotional Disabilities is a plus. Requirements: -Experience and working understanding of individuals with various disabilities -Experience with writing IEPs, progress notes, ongoing data collection and progress monitoring for students -Collecting and analyzing student work samples and related data to monitor progress and identify skill gaps. -Provide direct, targeted reading-based instruction to students identified as eligible for reading intervention services in one to one or small group settings. -Comfortable with presenting at student meetings and sharing alternative teaching and reading intervention strategies with faculty. -Excellent communication and collaboration skills with parents, teachers, and support staff -Experience working with and growing diverse learners in a college-oriented, rigorous school -Demonstrated ability to collaborate with content area teachers to modify curriculum and support inclusive learning -Comfortable working with digital platforms and knowledge of current technology (Google Suite and other) to enhance learning Sturgis is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all.
