TrulyHired is Hiring a Special Education TOSA- Behavioral Systems Specialist Near Coos Bay, OR

Job DescriptionThe Special Education TOSA will work with the Director of Special Education to design, implement, and refine systems that support students with behavioral needs across all schools in the district. This role requires a deep understanding of special education and behavioral intervention strategies. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in building effective systems and have a background in improvement science to drive continuous enhancement of district-wide behavioral support programs.
Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Development and Implementation:
  • Design and implement district-wide systems to support students with behavioral needs.
  • Utilize Collaborative Problem Solving, PBIS, and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention methodologies to inform system development.
  • Develop protocols and procedures to ensure consistent implementation of behavioral support strategies across all schools.
Training And Professional Development
  • Provide training and professional development to staff on behavioral support strategies and system implementation.
  • Offer ongoing support, mentoring, and coaching to teachers and staff to ensure effective application of behavioral interventions.
Collaboration And Support
  • Work closely with school administrators, special education staff, and teachers to support the implementation of behavioral systems.
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement inclusive strategies that benefit all students.
  • Serve as a resource and advisor on best practices for supporting students with behavioral needs.
Data Analysis And Continuous Improvement
  • Collect and analyze data on the effectiveness of behavioral support systems.
  • Use improvement science methodologies to identify areas for enhancement and drive continuous improvement.
  • Utilize data-driven approaches to identify problems, test interventions, and measure outcomes.
  • Develop and implement action plans based on data and feedback to improve behavioral support outcomes.
Student Support And Intervention
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) for students with significant behavioral needs.
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluating the progress of students with BIPs and adjust interventions as necessary.
  • Promote inclusionary practices to ensure students with behavioral needs are supported within the general education setting.
Documentation And Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of training, interventions, and system implementation activities.
  • Prepare reports on the status and effectiveness of behavioral support systems for district administration.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and district policies related to special education and behavioral support.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Valid special education teaching license or certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in special education with a focus on behavioral support.
  • Strong background in building systems and implementing behavioral intervention strategies.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and train staff effectively.
  • Proficiency in using data to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
Terms Of EmploymentContract year will begin in August 2024
Salary and work year to be in accordance with the current schedule.
EvaluationPerformance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified staff and in accordance with state evaluation requirements.
