Stony Brook Orchestra/Band/General Music Westford Public Schools Visual and Performing Arts education engages every child as a life-long learner through examination, interpretation, and performance. Students analyze and create all of the emotional, cultural, logical, symbolic, intuitive and physical aspects embodied in the arts to understand and share its beauty with their communities. We are seeking candidates for a new 1.0 FTE combined Orchestra, Band and General Music teacher that would be responsible for teaching classes in Strings, Band and General Music for Grades 6-8. This person will work in collaboration across the Department, under the direction of the K-12 Visual and Performing Arts Curriculum Coordinator and would be part of an Integrated Arts rotation at Stony Brook Middle School. Job Description/Requirements

• Massachusetts DESE Licensure in the area of Music, with a background in either Band or Orchestra
• Demonstrate knowledge of curriculum in both instrumental and general music at the middle school level, familiarity with pedagogy and state standards to guide lesson planning
• Demonstrate experience leading ensembles in band and/or orchestra
• Demonstrate the ability and willingness to plan differentiated lessons to meet the needs of individual students
• Demonstrate the ability and willingness to set up a nurturing classroom that continually motivates students and encourages progress
• Demonstrate the ability and willingness to interact collaboratively with students, parents & caregivers, colleagues and administration
• The ideal candidate will possess excellent oral and written skills, has strong organizational skills and is confident leading a classroom of students.
