Trumbull County is Hiring a Part Time Emergency Management Specialist Near Warren, OH

SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the director, this administrative position develops, organizes, and coordinates emergency plans and assists in disaster preparedness programs with local, county, state, and federal government agencies and partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

30% Assist with development and maintenance of the Trumbull County Emergency Operations Plan (EOP)

20% Assist with development and maintenance of the Trumbull County Hazard Mitigation Plan.

15% Review and recommend changes to Trumbull County School Emergency Operations Plans that are submitted annually for review.

20% Assist the director in development and implementation of exercises for the Trumbull County EMA and the Trumbull County LEPC. Perform functions as the secretary for the Trumbull County LEPC committee.

10% Conduct annual Trumbull County EMA inventory, and submit changes to the director.

2% Attend public meetings, events when directed by the director.

3% Assist the director in the overall management of the Trumbull County Special Operations Group.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

No direct supervisory duties.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Associate degree from a recognized college or university and 2 years of full -time paid experience in emergency or disaster preparedness; or a combination of education and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities contained herein. FEMA program related experience required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Completion of FEMA certifications and classes targeting emergency management operations. ICS 300 & ICS 400 preferred.
