TS TECH is Hiring a DSO Design Engineer Near Southfield, MI

We have an immediate need for an Design Engineer in our Southfield, Michigan office. Support the design, development, and release of automotive seating, interior trim and/or Powersport seating products. Work directly with customers, suppliers, and internal multi-functional team to design innovative and valuable products which meet or exceed all requirements and regulations. Support research, business objectives, and problem solving for continuous improvement.
Qualifications/Essential Skills and Experience:
• Minimum B.S. in Engineering or equivalent (Mechanical, Product Development, etc)
• 1-3 years ' experience in product design or development, preferably in automotive seat or interior trim
• Familiar/efficient with parametric modeling and drafting/annotation in CAD (CATIA V5 preferred)
• Familiar with performing FEA simulations and interpretation of results Experience with product design for manufacturing (DFM)
• Experience with project/team schedules (experience with MS Projects is a plus) Proficient on MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to travel locally (driving}, domestic and/or internationally (air) without restriction (typically less than 10%)

 Demonstrates overall engineering aptitude (engineering fundamentals)
Has high knowledge base of most aspects of TS Tech products and requirements
Effectively demonstrates moderate degree of mechanical aptitude
Innovation
Support department innovation through benchmarking, proof of concept, research activities and development proposals (products and business process)
Specific Job Requirements
Product Design
Understand and break down product requirements to generate and develop optimized concepts for quality, performance, weight, and cost
Interface directly with customers to fully understand all technical requirements and deliverables. Support informing the multi-functional team
Applies best practices in creating and maintaining product 3D CAD layouts models, and 2D drawings
Controls bill of materials (BOM) and design change documentation for responsible projects
Supports design analysis and prediction by kinematics, hand calculations, FEA, multibody dynamics, and statistical variation analysis tools
Lead and/or support multi-functional team with Design Failure Modes and Effect
Analysis (DFMEA), Design Review Based on Failure Modes (DRBFM) and/or Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) documentation
Work with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure production feasibility
Presents design in technical reviews with dynamic CAD reviews and reports
Track and maintain design related issues and propose countermeasures per schedule
Define/track all design change point details for Engineering Change Notice (ECN) documentation
Support internal product evaluations with technical documentation

Continuous Improvement
Support the development and proposal of reoccurrence prevention methods
Seek out, understand and communicate new or revised regulations and requirements
Support value added investigations (part, product, process, design improvements)
Supports in the development of new tools, standards, and procedures
