Job Description:

Thomas Safran & Associates is contributing to the reduction of people experiencing homelessness in LA through the development and management of eight existing permanent supportive housing (PSH) properties with ten more (and growing) in the pipeline for development. We are seeking to strengthen our PSH team who strategically foster healthier communities, residents, and nonprofit partnerships at TSA.

The PSH Social Services Coordinator will join a team that consists of the Director of PSH Services and additional Resident and Social Services Coordinators. They will serve as the primary liaison to the nonprofit partners at each site and will be responsible for supporting Property Managers and Maintenance staff in responding to PSH-related challenges. This position will help ensure evidence-based practices are implemented at each PSH property as consistently and as early as possible, with the goal of promoting resident housing retention and health.

Essential Functions

  • Support the functioning of the property management/service provider relationship on-site at PSH properties; work closely with the on-site social service provider to ensure a team-based approach to housing retention
  • Provide guidance to property management staff on how to navigate resident challenges. These challenges may relate to residents’ symptoms of mental illness, engagement with drugs or alcohol, trauma histories, inability to perform their activities of daily living, complex health challenges, housekeeping issues, or interpersonal functioning.
  • Foster stronger community among PSH staff by establishing and leading regular learning communities or exchanges.
  • Create and deliver trainings to staff to improve PSH competencies (e.g. trauma-informed approaches, applying harm reduction, crisis intervention, psychoeducation).
  • Add additional resources for PSH residents and learn local resources to each PSH property.
  • Relationship-build with community-based organizations, neighborhood councils, small businesses, and local officials relevant to each PSH property.
  • Assist with creating standardized PSH practices within the company.
