TSNE is Hiring an Intake Specialist - Williamsburg Near New York, NY

Overview:

Workers Justice Project (WJP) (workersjustice.org) was founded in 2010 to address the racial and economic injustices that low-wage immigrant workers face in New York City by building collective power to win institutional change. WJP runs two long-standing workers centers in Brooklyn. We promote justice and opportunity for low-wage immigrant workers in New York City by pushing for systematic enforcement and expansion of workplace protections, which include labor and occupational health and safety standards while advocating for industry-specific efforts to improve working conditions. WJP also offers skills-building training to workers in health & safety and industry-specific areas, and we educate immigrant communities about their rights in the workplace and how to exercise those rights.

WJP is a fiscally sponsored project of TSNE (www.tsne.org).

Responsibilities:

The Intake Specialist works from WJPs Williamsburg Worker Center. This is an on-site role that will involve regular evening and weekend work. Fluency in Spanish is required. The Specialist works directly supporting a team of organizers and case managers who are ready to strengthen and expand WJPs membership, win concrete and transformative workplace campaign victories, and significantly contribute to long-term movement building in New York City and beyond. The Intake Specialist is a key team member to help manage the flow of people and services at the Williamsburg Center.

  • Support WJP team in conducting outreach and follow up calls and texts to members and workers participating in classes or trainings;
  • Assisting with case management by connecting members with service providers and/or WJP program staff and conducting follow up communication and services as needed;
  • Keeping a record of phone calls, e-mails and messages received;
  • Collecting, entering and updating client/member data into WJPs database/tracking systems, including membership data, case management data, referral data, data on classes and trainings and more as needed;
  • Producing reports and statistics from collected data on a monthly basis;
  • Support in creating and printing flyers and other materials to promote WJPs programs and organizational activities;
  • Help preparing WJP correspondence for members, clients and others;
  • Assisting staff with document filing;
  • Provide support with other programmatic/administrative duties, as needed.
